Unsurprisingly, Spireites striker Eoin Doyle is one of the nominees for the Sky Bet September League One Player of the Month Award.

The Irishman, 26, is the country’s current leading scorer with 13 goals, seven of them scored in September.

His tally for the month includes back-to-back hat-tricks against Scunthorpe, when all of his three came in the second half of the 4-1 win, and at Preston, when he banged in three more to earn a draw after Spireites had been three down.

Doyle’s only blank in the month was in the 1-1 draw with Notts County, whose keeper Roy Carroll is also on the shortlist along with Rochdale’s Matt Done and Korey Smith of Bristol City.

The judging panel comprises of Sky Sports’ pundit Don Goodman, League Head of Communications John Nagle, League Managers’ Association’s Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery and the winner will be announced tomorrow.

Doyle remains a doubt for the trip to Bristol City on Saturday after picking up a knock soon after scoring against the Blades last Saturday. Should he miss out, Armand Gnanduillet will deputise at the home of the league leaders who are unbeaten in the competition in 17 games.

That dilemma apart, Paul Cook looks set to go into the game with a team unchanged from last weekend’s winning combination. With keeper Tommy Lee cleared to play the defence and centre midfield all but picks itself whilst the attacking trio of midfielders is the area of the most tough competition for places with Romy Boco, Sam Clucas, Dan Gardner and Ollie Banks all on the bench last week and pushing for a place.
