Spireites midfield Angel Martinez is awaiting the results of a scan after picking up an injury in training this week.
He joins Drew Talbot (ankle), who picked up his injury in training on Friday, on the treatment table.
Angel has impressed in his opening matches for the club, quietly but efficiently playing the holding midfield role allowing Sam Morsy to get further forwards.
Dean Saunders will have to decide whether to replace Angel directly for the weekend visit of Wigan Athletic, who signed up a trio of players on deadline day, or whether to do a double hop.
Ollie Banks would be the favourite for a direct replacement but Liam O’Neil, who debuted at right-back in the win at Millwall, could switch to his favoured engine room role with the manager finding an alternative at right-back. That could see Charlie Raglan coming in at centre half and Sam Hird moving across.
Spireites will also be without Gboly Ariyibi who is on International duty for USA Under 23’s.
Wigan’s new faces are defenders Andy Kellett (from Bolton) and Jack Hendry (Partick Thistle) plus Newcastle striker Haris Vuckic, who’s joined on loan for the season.
Spireites have also made a new signing; 17 year old Callum Greaves from Hallam joins the ever-growing ‘for the future’ group of promising youngsters. The midfielder signed off with a goal in a 4-1 win at Glasshoughton Welfare on Tuesday night.
He scored against Chesterfield’s U18’s in pre-season, a game the Sandygate side also won 4-1.
