Paul Cook has signed long term target Oscar Gobern on a month’s loan from Huddersfield Town.
Cook explained: “Daniel Johnson is returning to Aston Villa after the Yeovil match so it’s important we have options available within the squad. It is important that we have the right balance in the team as I have felt that the balance has not been correct in the last couple of weeks. The likelihood is that there will be further activity in the transfer market in the coming weeks.”
Gobern, 23, began his career at Southampton before joining Huddersfield in the summer of 2011. He’s a former England Under-19 international.
The midfielder is keen to play again following an injury-hit season. He said: “I’ve been pretty much injured since pre-season so I need some game time. I’m very familiar with Chesterfield having played against them a few times. I’m quite physical but I also like to get on the ball when we attack.”
