Here’s how Chesterfield FC line up for the 2012/13 season - when hopes are high that John Sheridan and his men can bounce back into League One at the first attempt.
The players are pictured in their new blue home shirts, manufactured by Puma, which supporters have been snapping up in the Spireites Superstore.
After the disappointment of last season’s relegation, manager Sheridan said a key priority was to bring in more leaders, who will help take responsibility on the pitch.
And one of his major signings has been Sam Hird who gained experience of Championship football playing for Doncaster Rovers last season.
Hird has been made team captain by Sheridan who clearly views his new No 6 as his chief lieutenant on the pitch.
Hird is a central defender and will be hoping to form a watertight partnership with No 5 Neal Trotman.
Another smart capture was the signing of Marc Richards from Port Vale.
An accomplished frontman, Richard was the Valiants skipper and he found the net 17 times last season.
He will be hoping to complement the pace ace Jordan Bowery up front as Chesterfield look to hit top gear on the road to promotion.
Sheridan’s first summer signing was Richard O’Donnell.
O’Donnell is a highly-regarded keeper who was with Sheffield Wednesday and gained League Two experience by playing for Macclesfield last season.
It is hoped he will provide genuine competition between the sticks for No 1 choice Tommy Lee.
The Blues chief has also bolstered his midfield and signed a full back.
Sam Togwell has experience with Barnsley and Scunthorpe and has the reputation of being a defensive midfielder while Terrell Forbes, who started his career with West Ham and has played for a number of clubs including QPR, Oldham and Leyton Orient, has looked accomplished during the pre-season build-up
In addition, three youngsters signed professional contracts after stepping up from the junior ranks.
They are Jack Waddle, son of former England star Chris Waddle, Alfreton-based Jonathan Wafula and Jacob Hazel, son of Des Hazel who played for Rotherham and Chesterfield.
Following the Capital One Cup game at the B2net on Tuesday evening, Chesterfield open their League One campaign at AFC Wimbledon.
