Chesterfield’s encouraging start to the season may have surprised a few in League One - but Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough isn’t one of them.
The Blades visit the Proact Stadium to take on Spireites on Saturday (1pm kick off) in an eagerly anticipated clash between two clubs separated by just ten miles.
“I’m not surprised by how Chesterfield have done. They’ve been promoted and they’ll be relishing being in this league,” said Clough.
“I thought it was telling when they didn’t bring too many players in. The same goes for Rochdale and I’m not surprised by them either. When you’ve gone up, sometimes that can have a negative effect upon the spirit you’ve built up.
“It will be intense. We’re always fascinated by the comments of opposition managers after they play us. They always say it was their best performance of the season.
“They’ll be looking forward to us coming to town. We have to contend and cope with that.”
