Gary Caldwell doesn’t believe Chesterfield need to employ someone to replace ex CEO Chris Turner and deal with contract renewals and transfer negotiations.
The manager said: “I don’t think we need to employ someone to do that.
“If we know budgets and Ashley works with the owner on that, I’m very comfortable dealing with that situation.”
Caldwell believes a more pressing need is in the area of recruitment and scouting.
“What I think we need is someone to find the players,” he said.
“What I can’t do is go to games every day, because I’m training. I can’t go to games at the weekend because we have games.
“We need someone to put in a department that actually finds the talent.
“Once we find the talent then getting them here shouldn’t be a problem.”
