Chesterfield FC’s youth team has reached the semi-finals of the Midland Cup. After a bye in the first round, Dave Bentley’s U18s faced Shrewsbury Town in the second round at the B2net on Saturday.

And the Spireites proved triumphant, winning 2-0 courtesy of goals from Jacob Hazel and Mark Fereday. The semi-final will be against Grimsby Town or Walsall with the date and venue yet to be arranged.

Meanwhile, The Spireites will host a Family Football Festival when Colchester visit the B2net Stadium for a League One clash on Saturday.

Chesterfield travel to Notts County on Tuesday evening for a second round match in the Johnstone Paints Trophy. Supporters who buy tickets in advance at the B2net for the clash at Meadow Lane will make savings. Tickets are also on sale for the game at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday week and for the England U16 international against Northern Ireland on Wednesday, October 12.
