Craig Davies looks set to join Championship club Barnsley.
The Chesterfield FC striker, who netted 25 goals as the Blues captured the League Two title last season, will be out of contract with the B2net side at the end of this month.
And Oakwell sources said Davies, 25, is set to pen a pre-contract agreement with the South Yorkshire club today.
Davies joined Chesterfield on a one-year deal last summer and was offered a new a new one-year deal after the Blues clinched the title in May.
Reading have also been tracking the striker but it is thought he plans to opt for Barnsley because he wants to remain based in the north.
On July 1, Davies is expected to sign a two-year deal with the Tykes.
