Chesterfield FC’s battle against relegation came to an end on Saturday when they were beaten 3-2 at Yeovil.

To have any chance of remaining in League One, John Sheridan’s Spireites had to win in Somerset.

And they put up a brave fight, going ahead twice at Huish Park.

Jordan Bowery gave Chesterfield an eighth minute lead before Dominic Blizzard levelled with 26 minutes gone.

Danny Whitaker made it 2-1 to the Blues with 20 minutes remaining to give the 523 travelling supporters something to cheer but again the home side made it all square, Kieran Agard netting in the 73rd minute.

Yeovil settled the issue when they scored an 80th minute decider through Andy Williams.

Chesterfield had made a bold bid to retain their League One status, winning their three previous games.
