Goals from Bethany Smyth and Georgina Williams earned the three points to make it two wins out of three so far this season, adding to the 9-0 success over Leicester City a fortnight ago.

And Noon was pleased with the win, particularly following defeat to Mansfield in Chesterfield’s opening home game on September 1.

He said: “After the last home game here, we needed to win, it was as simple as that.

"We bounced back well against Leicester and knew how important today was as Lincoln are a very good side who got promoted with us last year.

"I think they’ll be up near the top again this season so for us to go and beat them is a massive three points for us.

"We had to have a different game plan and way of playing but we have a good group of players who can listen to instructions and go out there and do a job and they’ve done that today brilliantly.

"It was a different kind of game but we managed to nullify their threat and scored a great goal through Beth in the first half and despite a freak goal getting them level, a great finish Georgina got us back in front at half-time and we then kept it tight and compact t get the three points.”

Chesterfield now prepare to travel to Loughborough Students on Sunday (26th).
