Chesterfield fans could be set for a return to the Technique Stadium once the national lockdown ends on December 2.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced that a maximum of 4,000 people will be able to attend outdoor events in the lowest risk areas (tier one).

Up to 2,000 fans will be allowed to games in tier two areas, but none in tier three.

The PM said he will announce which areas fall into the different categories on Thursday.

"In tiers one and two spectator sports and business events will be free to resume inside and outside with capacity limits and social distancing,” he said.

Chesterfield’s first match after December 2 is three days later away at Dover Athletic. The first home fixture is Barnet on December 12.

The last Blues home match with supporters in attendance was the 4-3 defeat to Harrogate Town on March 3.

The National League season has been continuing but fans have been forced to pay to watch matches online.
