Last week Town brought in Marcus Dinanga and Jack Clarke on loan, and snapped up Alex Whittle after he departed Gloucester City.

Some outgoings are expected in the coming days.

Smith has made seven appearances for the Ammies this season, but has not been involved in the matchday squad in five of the last six matches.

He joined Salford in the summer of 2019 on a free transfer after being released by Swindon Town, penning a two-year deal.

Smith’s previous clubs also include Coleraine and Kilmarnock, as well as loan spells at Gateshead, Carlisle United and Chorley after coming through the Sunderland academy.
