All three goals were assisted by Chesterfield errors, but the Blades were unlucky not to score on at least three other occasions.

Danny Wilson’s men, who came into the derby on the back of two victories, created very little in response and it all looked too easy for Nigel Adkins’ side.

Here’s how the Chesterfield players rated.

Tommy Lee - 6

His mistake, sending a poor clearance straight to Che Adams for the second goal, is what people will remember. But had it not been for two fantastic stops, things would have been much worse for the Spireites.

Charlie Raglan - 6

Solid if unspectacular. Got a foot in when he could, played a few nice balls into the channel.

Drew Talbot - 5

Wasn’t as good as recent outings at left-back, and while he wasn’t the worst performer by some way, struggled at times against an attack moving the ball quickly.

Tom Anderson - 5

Got away with a badly sliced clearance in the first half, was troubled by the movement of Billy Sharp and Che Adams.

Sam Hird - 5

Couldn’t match his own high standards from the last two months. Gave the ball away for the third goal.

Gboly Ariyibi - 5

A couple of nice moments when he got on the ball, but Chesterfield’s lack of possession took him out of the equation for large periods.

Jay O-Shea - 5

Lively without being particularly effective. Tried to get on the ball to make things happen, but nothing was happening for his side today.

Gary Liddle - 4

Silly challenge brought a booking, then repeated the trick a minute later - very lucky to stay on the pitch. After that his game was neutralised by his fear of getting another yellow and was poor on the ball.

Ollie Banks - 5

Fairly anonoymous, couldn’t get to grips with the United midfield or link up particularly well with the Chesterfield attack. Effort was there.

Connor Dimaio - 5

Couldn’t make an impression, save for a nice touch and ball out of defence for Novak in the first half. Looked a little lightweight against a strong Blades midfield.

Lee Novak - 5

Gave his usual robust effort, running for lost causes. Lost his man at the back post for the opener. Didn’t get hold of the one shot he was afforded.
