CENTRAL MIDLANDS LEAGUE: Midweek matches beat the frost

The Black Dragon Badges South Division saw three fixtures played.

Linby Colliery travelled to Derbyshire on Tuesday night to take on Matlock Town Reserves, returning with a share of the points after a 1-1 draw.

Kaylum Mitchell gave the visitors a 34th minute lead which was wiped out on the stroke of half-time by Matt Wilkinson.

Sherwood Colliery stayed in touch with the leaders with a 4-2 win at Collingham.

Lee Easom struck twice for the Wood, with Vijay Selvam and Dale Gilliatt also finding the net, Collingham’s reply coming from Jordan Wapplington and Jordan Clucas.

Wednesday evening saw Hucknall Town’s poor home form continued as they fell to their third successive defeat at Watnall Road since the turn of the year.

Swanwick Pentrich Road were the beneficiaries this time, a goal in each half scored by Ashley Buxton and Guy Taylor meaning the Swans have still only been beaten once in the league this season.

Appleby Frodingham recovered from their weekend defeat at Dronfield with a 3-1 defeat of Bilsthorpe at Brumby Hall.

Hucknall Town joined Heanor Town in the semi finals of the Phoenix Trophies Reserve League Cup with a 2-1 win after extra-time in their long delayed tie at Holbrook Sports.

Adam Whitmore and Toby Birch scored the decisive goals with Holbrook’s reply coming from Jake Dodds.
