Carson talks of frustration with no clear offers yet to come in for Spireites

Club director Ashley Carson says he's frustrated that Chesterfield FC have still not received any '˜clear offers' from serious buyers.

Owner Dave allen has put the club up for sale and Carson has stated in the past that a bid of £10m and proof of funding would be enough to begin talks.

But despite a number of what he called ‘tyre kickers’ getting in touch, no one has met Allen’s requirements to start negotiating.

“We’ve not had any bid with any real content at all, offering £10m, £5m or even £2m,” said Carson.

“There’s a couple that have been tyre kickers but we’ve never recieved any clear offers.

“I’ve spoken to Shorts, our accountants, and someone said they had serious money and a serious consortium but we sent the last three years’ audited accounts and we never heard anything back.

“That’s where we are at the minute, no one has got past first base.

The company secretary says he’d be delighted if someone did come forward, with the necessary financial clout to make something happen.

“I would do all I can to get any bid on the table in front of Dave,” he said.

“Dave and I would welcome any serious bid.

“It’s frustrating.”

Back in February it emerged that a Swedish consortium had made contact, through a supporter, but their interest apparently ended abruptly and Carson says the amount of £10m was never mentioned in their proposal.

“If they were serious, why didn’t they come back and say let’s have another look at it?” asked Carson.

“But I don’t think anyone is supportive of a consortium, I think that would be a concern of Dave’s as well.

“It’s got to be right for the football club.

“Four people coming in and chucking their money in – it never works out.”
