The Chesterfield boss says Rochdale have benefitted from a lack of change – his opposite number Keith Hill now four years into his second stint as manager at Spotland.

“With consistency, with a lot of consistency throughout the club, the manager, the staff, the players, with that consistency comes consistent results,” he said.

The Dale sit 10th in League One ahead of today’s game against 23rd-placed Town.

Caldwell said: “After the initial start they had they went on a great run and since that they’ve had a sticky patch again. But they have consistency in the club.

“The owner backs the manager, the players back the manager and they get consistent performances and results because of that. I think it should be the model at any club.”
