After a couple of defeats, the Millers were underdogs for the trip to Hucknall, who sit third in the table and still harbour ambitions of the title.

But they returned home with a creditable 1-1 draw after a fine performance in a hard-fought match, watched by a large crowd.

The first half saw an abundance of chances for both sides, so it was incredible that the score remained goalless. More end-to-end action followed after the interval, with Clay Cross going so close when Ant Lynam’s effort ricocheted off a post and another chance was cleared off the line.

They finally silenced home fans in the 66th minute when Tomas Poole executed a free-kick perfectly. And they were only nine minutes away from a famous win when Matt Bryan’s shot was cruelly deflected past ‘keeper Liam Wajs to earn Hucknall a share of the spoils.

This Saturday, the Millers travel to Keyworth United.
