Town have won both of the only two games they have been able to play in this season’s CMFL Division One Central campaign.

But Davies feels he has already seen enough from his players to be encouraged for the future.

“With new signings adding depth we felt capable of a top four finish as plans were put in place to utilise a big squad, enabling us to cover short notice and short term loss of player availability,” he said.

““We’ve got a great bunch this year with every position well catered for and a real club ethos amongst the lads.

“It’s a bit too early to highlight individuals as each game has been played as a collective, which is great to see and we’re excited to see how they develop.

“We know what they’re capable of, it’s just about getting the best out of them, the boys showing us why they’ve earned their shirt and then doing the best for the side they’ve been selected for.

“If the lads give in every game what we know they can, then who knows where we could be playing this time next year.”

He also believes the club has a strong future throughout, with the development side offering a clear pathway into first team football.

“After a difficult start to life in the Midlands Regional Alliance the side has settled into their new surroundings and are firmly in the higher echelons of the table,” he said.

"The club’s future looking in good shape as several of the side are transitioning well from junior football whilst being aided by a sprinkling of experienced lads, in what’s been an extremely competitive and enjoyable standard for the group thus far.”

Davies is now keen to keep the lads fully engaged in the club until they are able to return to the pitch post lockdown.

He added: “Coming into the season we knew it was potentially going to be an awkward, stop start campaign and that’s how it’s unfolded.

“At the minute we focus on the now, and that is keeping them engaged in all things Bakewell Town during lockdown.

“And then when we’re able, turning up every week, playing our football and, whether we come away with all three points or not, we’ll tell the story to the community that we’re proud to represent.”
