“I want to try and emulate what we had last year with the players here,” he said.

“We don’t want to be in League Two, I’ve come here to get us back out of League Two into League One.

“It’s a club that should be in League One, it’s a big club.

“And I’m sure with the signings coming in that’s what we’re going to achieve.”

Anyon says manager Gary Caldwell’s ambition attracted him to the Proact.

And the the former Port Vale man has been impressed in his encounters with the Spireites.

“The manager basically sold it to me on how he wants it to go, where he wants us to be,” he said.

“It’s always been a good place to come, good stadium, good pitch, lively, good solid team.

“When I’ve played against Chesterfield they’ve always been a good team, they were always a team that stood out.”
