Storm Dennis caused chaos across the country last weekend with heavy rain, strong winds and flooding.

The Spireites travelled to Somerset and stayed in a hotel on Friday night because of the four-hour journey down to Huish Park.

The match was called off on Saturday morning around 10am.

But Pemberton said the match should have been ruled off on Friday before they set off, just like many other games were.

He said: “I was obviously disappointed that the game was off but annoyed that we had to travel down because it was not rocket science that the game was going to be off.

“I could have told you the game was going to be off on Friday afternoon.

“Having to go down and travel all that way and spend the money that we had to spend on the hotel was just crazy.”

Pemberton added that another reason for calling it off was the 5.20pm kick-off time due to the match being televised on BT Sport.

“Common sense would say if one club is going to the other end of the country and there is a severe weather warning - it has been hammering it down - and we are two hours later for kick-off - it was just a no brainer that the game was going to be off.”
