The Reds, like the majority before them were pushed aside by runaway leaders Luton Town last Saturday, although Nicky Law’s side can take heart from matching their opponents for large parts of that contest.

Further to that their form prior to that perhaps unsurprising defeat against a side seemingly destined for the Football League, was encouraging – with Alfreton picking up eight points from their previous four games.

However, the visitors though can vaunt strong form of their own having lost just one of seven and going unbeaten through their last four fixtures.

Alfreton also have reason to be wary of Saturday’s opponents having been beaten 4-1 at Sincil Bank just two months ago.

Not only that, but Lincoln were also victors in this very fixture last season, although Alfreton did taste success in the corresponding game.

One player who will need particular close attention is 16-goal former Reds striker Ben Tomlinson who has notched 11 goals in his last 13 outings for City.

Encouragingly the Reds continue to steer clear of injury problems, with only long-term injury victim John McGrath and Bradley Wood - who injured a hip at Luton last weekend - set to miss the visit of the Imps.

This fixture represents the first of two home games in four days, with bottom side Hyde the visitors on Tuesday.

Taking into account Alfreton’s strong home returns thus far these two fixtures will be viewed as an ideal opportunity to build momentum as we enter the business end of the campaign.
