Alfreton Town boss Nicky Law challenges side to show they are not relegation candidates

The struggling Reds turned on the style to beat high-flying Torquay United 4-2 last Saturday.

And they travel to Chester FC this weekend looking for a repeat of the 1-0 win at the same venue last season.

Said Law: “It’s another game, against another team that is not too far away from us, it’s maybe something of a six pointer if you like.

“It’s a game where both teams will fancy their chances of winning.

“It was a good performance against Torquay. We proved we are not a bottom four side, but we have not proved that often enough this season and we now have to be far more consistent over the last two thirds of the campaign.

“We have got to recapture the level of the Torquay display, and if we do, we will be ok.”

In March this year, Alfreton shook off the blow of losing key defender Michael Wylde with a double leg fracture to go on and record the 1-0 win over Chester thanks to a 66th minute Shaun Harrad penalty.

This time around, both teams are in the bottom third of the table and desperate for points.

However, the Reds boss has been dealt another injury blow with left-sided defender Dan Gray set to miss the next two to three weeks due to a groin problem which forced him out of the Torquay game early last weekend.

Potential replay

Should Alfreton’s FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie with Lincoln City require a replay, it will be staged at Sincil Bank on Tuesday, October 28th with a 7.45pm kick-off.
