Alfreton Town will be looking to record their first points of the season at the sixth attempt when they take on Braintree Town in a Vanarama Conference home game at the Impact Arena on Saturday.

Reds assistant manager Russ O’Neill, standing in for suspended Nicky Law for the last one of six games, will have the bonus of having central defender Luke Graham available as he returns from a one-match suspension.

However, Anthony Howell will be missing as he begins the first of a three-match suspension following his sending off in the game at Grimsby Town on August Bank Holiday Monday and O’Neill will also need a fitness check on Duane Courtney.

Braintree Town arrive having won two of their opening five league games and they currently sit in 13th place. Both victories have come at their Cressing Road home with a 3-0 win over Dover Athletic being added to by a 2-0 success over Nuneaton Town on August Bank Holiday Monday thanks to late goals from Mitch Brundle and Michael Bakare.

On the road, the Iron have lost 1-0 at Macclesfield Town on the opening day of the season and 3-2 at Lincoln City last Saturday. Their other defeat was a 3-1 reverse at home to Chester.

Honours finished even between the sides last season with both clubs winning their home games 3-1, Braintree triumphing in Essex on September 28 and Alfreton securing three points at the Impact Arena on November 16 by the same scoreline.
