Struggling Alfreton Town are in Vanarama Conference action tonight when they entertain AFC Telford United at the Impact Arena.
Games against Telford have nearly always been close run affairs full of commitment and passion and this one will probably go down the same line, particularly with both teams looking to get away from the bottom two places in the table.
Alfreton go into the game after after recording their first league win in 17 games following a 2-0 success at Southport last Saturday.
The Red’s win on Saturday saw them leapfrog Telford to move off of the bottom of the table and another three points could rein in one or two more teams just above them.
On the injury front, obviously Nathan Hicks’s shoulder injury is going to keep him out for a while but the big plus is that all of the suspensions are over and there just remain question marks over Dan Bradley and Duane Courtney after Chris Smith returned to the side at the weekend.
The Bucks also showed their resolve on Saturday when they produced a late equaliser in a 2-2 draw at home with top-of-the-table Barnet. However, they are now the only team in the division without a victory to their name, all of their three points coming from draws.
Aside from the Barnet result, their other two two points were gleaned from a 1-1 draw at Welling United on the opening day of the campaign and a 3-3 draw at the New Bucks Head three weeks ago.
One word of warning though is that Telford have found the Impact Arena a good hunting ground and have returned home with a point after picking up draws in each of their last three visits. Indeed, all of the last three games between the clubs have ended in stalemate with the points shared.
