ALFRETON: Ex-Newcastle United prospect signs for Reds on loan

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law has brought striker Jonathan Hooper in on a month’s loan from Sky Bet League Two club Northampton Town.

The period of the loan is from November 28 to December 25, 2013 inclusive and Hooper, 20, will wear squad number 11 during his stay at the Impact Arena.

The Northamptonshire club have given permission for the player to play in the FA Trophy and Derbyshire Senior Cup during his stay and he is available for Saturday’s home game against Nuneaton Town in the Trophy first round.

He began his footballing career with a two-year scholarship at Newcastle United and scored a hat-trick against Chelsea U18s the following day.

Hooper has had loan spells at both Darlington and Workington before being released by Newcastle on February 1.

After a successful trial with Northampton Town, he signed a one-year deal on July 25, 2013.

He made his professional debut for the Cobblers in a 1-0 away defeat against York City on August 3rd.
