Alfreton could welcome back top scorer and first choice stopper for Bradford Park Avenue test
Alfreton Town reach the halfway stage of their Vanarama National League North campaign on Saturday when they welcome Bradford Park Avenue to the Impact Arena.
It is the Reds’ 21st league fixture of the season and the last game for points before Christmas which means both sides will want to head into the busy festive period on a positive note.
Avenue arrive in thirteenth place in the table, two positions ahead of the Reds and with three more points from two games less.
Bradford are also in far better form having lost just once in their last eight league outings and are unbeaten in their last seven games in all competitions in a run of form which has also taken them to the FA Trophy first round and they will almost certainly have one eye on Monday evening’s rearranged home game against Lincoln City, the game having been postponed twice already due to an unfit pitch at the Horsfall Stadium.
By contrast, the Reds have slipped to 15th in the table on the back of picking up just four points from the last 24 on offer and have the worst current form in the division over the last eight games.
With his side sat just two points above the relegation places it is obviously a run that manager Nicky Law will want to end and he is hopeful of having top scorer Jordan Robertson and goalkeeper Matt Duke fit again but ‘keeper Nick Draper is ruled out through injury.
The sides drew 2-2 in the opening game of the campaign in West Yorkshire, the Reds coming from two goals down to gain a point despite being reduced to nine men thanks to goals from Andi Thanoj and a Joe Ironside penalty deep into added time.
