The wicketkeeper-batsman, who will be at Derbyshire until the end of the 2020 season, is a product of the Cricket Derbyshire Academy in partnership with the University of Derby, started with the under-13s.

He made his four-day debut in 2014, equalling the world record for the most catches taken on a first appearance with seven in a County Championship innings against Surrey.

Having come through the ranks, Hosein, of Matlock, became the club’s first-choice wicketkeeper during the 2019 County Championship and Royal London Cup, scoring five first-class half-centuries.

Looking back at his development, Hosein said: "The club means a great deal to me. It's where I came through and developed, from the under-13s right the way through to the first-team. I have been through every stage of the club so it means a great deal.

"Over that time - I am now 23 and have been here 10 years - you see the changes but the aim is always to play first-class cricket here.
