Jono’s form impresses team manager Moore

In-form cyclist Jono Dexter continues to impress for Staveley-based Andy Moore Autocentres Racing Team with a one-two finish in York and Sheffield.

It was far from plain sailing for Dexter, however, who found himself in the chasing pack after an early breakaway by four riders opened up a sizeable advantage in the first race.

The time margin was getting bigger as each lap passed and, when it ticked over 30 seconds, a determined Dexter decided to make a move and launched a fierce solo attack on the front.

He somehow managed to bridge the gap in double-quick time, steadied himself and went again, unleashing a powerful sprint to take victory to the surprise of his floundering rivals.

It was a storming finish by Dexter who continued his form just a few days later at Sheffield’s Forge Valley circuit alongside team-mates Andy Bishop, Danny Featherstone and Calum Lawson.

The trio of riders attacked hard right from the flag and stretched the peloton throughout the early stages to leave Dexter the chance to utilise his effective turn of speed.

He sprinted to a fine second place finsh ahead of team-mates Bishop in seventh and Lawson in ninth. And Dexter’s form delighted team manager Andy Moore.

“Jono has been outstanding this week,” he said. “He’s proving a force to be reckoned with and his trademark sprint is bringing in some impressive results.

“The lads did a fantastic supporting job for him, managing the race to ensure he can do the job. Team spirit is sky high at the moment, the lads are hungry for success.

“It’s a great place to be for all of them. The team are quickly rising up the rankings and, with the season still in its early stages, it promises to deliver continued success for the team.”
