Top time trialists from Matlock Cycling Club tested their early season form at the MG Decor 10-mile event near Griffydam on Saturday.

The event was won by elite rider Matt Bottrill by a considerable gap, with Bottrill finishing the course in a time of just 20 minutes and 11 seconds. Second place went to Matt Sinclair of Lutterworth Cycles in a time of 21:51.

Three Matlock riders finished in the top 10 though, which was enough to take the overall team prize of the fastest three finishers, with Chris Green (23:12), Richard Cordin (23:17) and Patrick Gould (23:27) finishing in 7th, 8th and 9th respectively.

Other Matlock riders to take part were Peter Colledge who finished in time of 24:16, just 1 second ahead of club mate Mike Blair, and Stewart Marsh who recorded a time of 27:33.

The British Schools Cycling Association held its East Midlands Championships at the Darley Moor Circuit near Ashbourne on Sunday, with many local riders taking part in the various age categories.

George Swindell timed his sprint finish to perfection to take a well-deserved victory in the U12s race.

Younger brother Louis Swindell made it a great day out for the family as he too took victory in the U9s.

Amelie Wayte took a fine win from Sarah Briggs in the girls time-trial. Briggs won the afternoon circuit race.
