Matlock Cricket Club end the season on a high

Matlock II claimed a tense 60 run win over Cutthorpe IV to end their season on a high.

Despite the comfortably margin of victory, Matlock only picke up the winning wicket with balls to spare.

Batting first, Matlock were indebted to Tristan Kawalek, whose 116* was his maiden century.

Scoring mainly through the offside, his innings was chanceless and, accompanied by hard running between the wickets, ensured his partners gave him plenty of the strike when it mattered.

He was supported by Matt Parry (20) and James Scully (19) and hard though the Cutthorpe bowlers tried Kawalek found the boundary 16 times.

In reply Cutthorpe batted well, with Caldwell (58) and McCollum (31) keeping the match very evenly poised, but once Jamie Lambert had bowled the big hitting McCollum, and Chris Rowan had enticed a skier from Caldwell, the ask was too great.

Peter Kidd took the final two wickets in a fine spell to ensure Matlock ended the season with a win.
