Godleman and Madsen set new third wicket recxord for Derbyshire

Billy Godleman and Wayne Madsen batted through the afternoon session to put Derbyshire in a strong position at tea on the second day of the Division Two match against Worcestershire at Derby.

The pair shared a record unbroken third wicket stand for Derbyshire against Worcestershire of 201, beating the previous best of 186 by Peter Bowler and Chris Adams at Worcester in July 1992.

Godleman, who scored only 23 in the morning session, completed his century from 177 balls just before tea when he launched Brett D’Oliveira over long-on for six while Madsen was unbeaten on 89 at the interval.

Worcestershire switched their bowlers around but batting became easier as Godleman and Madsen scored 148 in 33 overs to take the home side to 214 for 2.
