Cricket: Bowler Coleman dazzles with cup hat-trick

In the Bissenden Cup, Hayfield enjoyed a crushing victory over struggling Buxton. Hayfield posted a score of 267-3, with opener Julian Burgess smashing an unbeaten 131 and J Duckworth hitting 73. M Proctor then took 4-21 and J Adamson 3-15 as Buxton were bowled out for just 75.

Newton batted first at Broadbottom and made 189-8, A Pickles scoring 32, but Broadbottom reached 192-7 to secure a three-wicket victory.

Despite 50 from Tom Partridge, hosts Charlesworth were bowled out for just 76 by Dinting, with Jon Coleman taking 6-9 including a hat-trick. Adam Wilson then made 34 not out as Dinting cruised to 80-2.

Hadfield were bowled out for 140 as they batted first at Compstall, Jamie Squires hitting 39 as Danny Millen took 3-26. In reply, Millen top-scored with 32 as Compstall reached 141 for the loss of seven wickets.

Hawk Green batted first at home to Chapel-en-le-Frith and posted 180 all out thanks to 52 from Paul Needham. J Jackson then hit 31 and B Harding 41, but 3-25 from Pete Richards and 3-16 from Lee Hallas saw Chapel bowled out for 136.

Whaley Bridge were dismissed for 134 by hosts New Mills, Dec Ryan scoring 40 and L Jones 53 while Mark Birchenhall took 4-11. New Mills then made it home for the loss of six wickets, finishing on 136-6.

Birch Vale batted first at Old Glossop and were all out for 174, J Eyre taking 3-23 and Matt Woodcock 3-30. Andy Nicholson then struck 36 and Woodcock 32, but 4-25 from Tom Isherwood and 3-20 from Steve Burns saw Old Glossop dismissed for 151.

Mottram recovered from 20-5 to post 145 all out, Sam Fazackerley making 39 and A Burke 31 while Jack Trowsdale took 3-16 and Jamie Kay 3-10.

In reply Woodley fell short of their target, finishing on 124 all out, with D Hotson scoring 33 as M Scott took 4-17 and L Wright 3-34.

In the Hawke Trophy, P Littlewood (4-26) and Ivan Twist (3-19) helped Old Glossop dismiss Hayfield for just 92. S James then struck an unbeaten 32 as Old Glossop reached their target, with M Greenwood taking 3-9.

New Mills posted 192-9 at Dove Holes, M Ruffle making 46 as L Jones took 4-36. Jones then scored 44, but 4-0 from Tom Boardman saw the home side bowled out for just 109.

Buxworth batted first at home to Hawk Green and lost wickets regularly on their way to 136-9, with George Ridings taking 3-15. L Jeffs hit 40 in reply, but J Winfield took 3-25 and Aaron Benstead 3-20 as Hawk Green fell four runs short.

Newton batted first at home to Charlesworth and made 199-8 thanks to M Williams (44), N Tansella (53) and M Stringer (31). In reply T Bhojani hit 34, but O Marrow took 3-21 and M Hyde 4-23 as the visitors were all out for 107.

Dinting hit 233-8 at home to Buxton thanks to James Brotherton (62), S Bridge (52 not out) and P Bridge (42). James Brotherton then took 3-9 as Buxton were all out for just 66.

Broadbottom travelled to Hadfield and struck 174-7, R Heydon with 31, P Rowston 41 and Nick Courtney 34, while G Snowball took 3-26. Hadfield had no answer to D Holden as he took 6-22 with the home side dismissed for 84.

Mottram declared on 256-4 at home to Chapel, P Broscombe hitting 56, and A Fitton 50 while A Fielding (39) and R Wilcox (40) were both unbeaten. Chapel were bowled out for 73 in reply, despite Todd Candlin’s 31, as S Scott took 3-19.

Whaley Bridge finished on 127-8 batting first at home to Woodley as Elliott Simmonds struck 44. P Cocks then hit 41 for Woodley as they won with three wickets to spare, despite 3-2 from 12-year-old G Holden.
