After a 4-0 win had kept Chesterfield in third, three points behind the leaders, Battye said: “That was excellent. We were in control from start to finish, and everybody looked solid.

“We have had some tough games at Burton in the past, so to come out with a 4-0 win is really pleasing.

Early pressure paid off within five minutes as Joe Morton weaved his way through three players before a shot that was saved and led to a goalmouth scramble in which Johnny Hancock made no mistake from close range.

Man-of-the-match Morton himself was next on the scoresheet with an impressive backhand finish after busy work by Dan Molloy, who netted the third and fourth goals.
