Emily Collinge set a new ladies course record at the Clowne Half Marathon.
A time of 1:15:02 saw the Vegetarian Cycle & AC runner finish third overall behind winner Chris Jordan (1:12:30) and second placed Matt Adcock (1:12:45).
Colin Davenport (1:16:58) from Matlock AC came fourth and Retford AC’s Ben Harris (1:17:38) made up the top five from a field of 630 finishers on Sunday.
Race director Dennis Learad described the scene: “It was raining as we were setting up and we were expecting the worst then it cleared up just as we started.
“It was ideal running conditions but I don’t think many would have predicted there to be a new course record on the day. Emily surprised us all and did fantastically well.
“The event was sponsored by Buckinghamshire Insurance a local Clowne business and Tony Buckingham has supported the event for many years ensuring his sponsorship helps many local community charities that Clowne Road Runners support.
“Our event charity was Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice and the runners goody bag provided by Clowne RR this year must have been the best in the UK at any racing event organised.
“This was Derbyshire County Championships race and Barry Parker from the Derbyshire AA was there to present the medals.”
The 13.1 mile course sees runners head from Clowne Community Centre along the B6417, east towards Whaley, up to Elmton, around Creswell and Whitwell, along the A619 west and back to the community centre.
