Catt is star despite defeat for Brampton

Tintwistle Villa FC 5,

Brampton FC 0

After Brampton’s recent run of good form, the last match was disappointing and this game proved to be no different as once again Brampton only managed to field a team of 11 players.

Two of the 11 were new signings Kieran Sturgess and Matt Lister who despite the scoreline had very good debuts.

Luke Catt was as a stand-in goalkeeper for the second week and pulled off some excellent saves including a brilliant save from a penalty in the second-half.

Tintwistle came out full throttle, Brampton were on the back foot and defended well until the half hour mark when the offside trap was broken and the Tintwistle number nine raced away to break the deadlock.

Before the half-time whistle Brampton were undone twice more as they failed to cut out a deep cross creating an easy finish for the striker and then a spectacular volley from the corner of the 18-yard box found its way to the far top corner.

The second-half was a much improved effort for Brampton with Steve Brammer and Iain Branson both going close before Tintwistle broke away twice to wrap up the win.
