Busy week at Matlock Golf Club - while Alan hits a hole-in-one!

Matlock Golf Club held its Men’s Medal No3 with another large card of over 100 participants.

Despite conditions improving, the course proved difficult with standard scratch at 72.

Results: Div 1 winner - Andy Kernagan 74 (6) 68; Div 2 - John Bowler 80 (12) 68; Div 3 - Brian Hardy 84 (15) 69; Div 4 - Paul Birch 87 (22) 65.

In the veterans section Keith Siddall won with 31 points.

In Saturday’s Junior Medal, Tom Mooney won with 101 (23) 28 followed by Ryan Gebbie and Abigail Newman.

On Wednesday, the seniors played away at Bakewell and under the captaincy of Rae Gladwin scored another resounding victory with an overall score of 7-0.

The vice captain’s team played Bakewell the day after at home, securing a further victory 4 – 2.

On Saturday the captains team played away at Chevin and with the course in excellent condition were beaten 4.5-1.5.

In the Spondon Plate, Team D had a convincing away victory 6-0 against Denston College from Ashbourne.

Meanwhile, club member Alan Harker shot a hole in one whilst playing with seven other Matlock Golf Club members in Northumberland for the Trivet Trophy. His hole in one was in windy conditions on the 15th at Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Course.
