Killamarsh Arrows remain top dogs

Killamarsh Arrows continued to progress in the league with another commanding display, this time against the Brixton Topcats.

Arrows’ collective firepower and defensive energy were the foundations of a 93-67 victory at the Killamarsh Sports Centre.

Corey Standerfer hit 13 with solid free throwing form while Cam McCallum and Nathan Dacres led the defensive effort that restricted Brixton to just 11 points in the opening quarter (26-11).

The second quarter was a more evenly contested affair with Brixton making a number of long range efforts, however, baskets from Baugh, Scott and Rankine kept the Arrows progress.

An impressive rebound and conversion on the buzzer by Rory Wheatcroft extended the Arrows advantage to 54-34 at the break. Arrows opened brightly in the third quarter with baskets from the athletic Standerfer.

Arrows went into the fourth quarter with a commanding 30-point advantage and although Brixton managed a run, baskets from Kelly, Baugh and Scott together with a cameo performance from U18s star Andreas Lycoudis sealed the win.
