Basketball: Killamarsh Arrows U15s dumped out of cup quarters

The fairytale finals dream is over for the Arrows U15s who went down 66-89 to an impressive NASSA side in the national quarter finals.

Ross Walcott led all scorers in the game with 32 points for the Arrows and was well supported by Aidan Dennison (10) and Zorian Zaheer (11).

Arrows, who were the last team standing outside of London, were outsized in all positions by their London rivals and in the first quarter struggled to make a consistent impression trailing 24-12 as NASSA dominated the rebounds.

But the Arrows rallied in the second (24-25) and third (18-21) quarters with their hustling defence with good spells from Bennett and Hicken and some nice touches from Ellis Salim.

The Arrows pressed throughout the final quarter in an effort to pull off a remarkable comeback as time was against them.

The Arrows were the last team standing outside London.

Meanwhile the seniors’ remarkable end to the season gave them a fourth-placed finish overall and a home tie against fifth-placed Riders.

In the regular season the teams shared the games with Riders, backed by several of the BBL squad, taking the game at Killamarsh while Arrows took a narrow win at Loughborough.
