Sub Zero temperatures and icy patches greeted runners of Dave Denton’s Unique Race.
With frost on the ground, a steep hill and energy-sapping mud to look forward to, 69 people braved the elements for a race which took place at 12 minutes past 12 on the 12th of the 12th, 2012.
The race was won in an excellent time, given the conditions, by Pudsey and Bramley runner Neill Steven in a time of 50:57.
All four Matlock Athletics Club runners finished in the top half.
Alan Pickering led the way to a third place finish in a time of 52:06, with Andy Whittaker coming up just behind him in fourth spot in a time of 53:34 - 1st MV50.
Rob Atkin finished the grueling race in ninth place with a time of 56:25 - 3rd MV50.
Jan Forrester came 34th with a time of 66:20 - 1st FV60 - and 3rd lady overall.
Following the race, Alan Pickering said: “Thanks to Dave Denton for putting on yet another cracking race, with all entry fees and donations going to the charity which helps support the poor in the Southern Indian State of Kerala.”
