Chesterfield AC’s Jody Hart did the sprint double at the recent Mencap Games at Watford, winning the 100m in 12.72s and 200m final in 26.04s.
It was a triumphant return as Jody, 29, coached by the club’s sprints specialist, Wayne Morant, is a previous champion, but had not competed at the Games since 2008.
The club’s athletes who represented Derbyshire at the English Schools Championships at Gateshead had mixed fortunes. Lindsey Morgan improved her personal best to 2:16.12 in the Inter Girls 800m to place her 32nd in the current UK rankings.
Alicia Barrett, the club’s outstanding U15G 75m hurdler lost her battle against injury and had to withdraw a few days before, but was still allowed to travel with the squad.

The club’s next fixture is on Sunday, when the U20 team travels to Tamworth for the third match in the National Junior League’s Trent Division. Transport will leave Chesterfield Town Hall at 9.30am.
