Another great escape for high-flying Arrows

Derbyshire Arrows came from eight points down with three minutes to play to stun Ipswich and take the game 88-84.

Joseph Baugh and Denis Scott again led the way on points as the Arrows had four players record double figures in scoring.

The two teams were closely matched throughout the first quarter with Aaron Moseley scoring seven points against his former team.

Scott matched this figure as he continues to be an influential figure for the Arrows. Baugh and Andreas Lycoudis also notched for the Arrows in an entertaining first quarter which went the way of Ipswich by 25-23.

Ipswich made a move in the second quarter with a number of fast-break baskets as the Arrows struggled. But Scott was again prominent as were Matt Wilson and Johnny Brodee to keep the Arrows in touch. A closing three pointer from Lycoudis saw the Arrows take the quarter 20-19 and trail at the interval 44-43.

The teams battled for supremacy throughout the third quarter with Moseley struggling with injury but still delivering and Baugh effective at both ends, the Arrows took a slender 66-64 advantage into the final quarter.

Not for the first time this season, the Arrows were on the end of some precise play from their opponents and in a deep hole with time running out.

This time Ipswich had an eight-point advantage with three minutes to go and looking like the win was within their grasp.

But, as has happened numerous times before, the inspirational play of Baugh was to ultimately take the Arrows to victory. Baugh scored 12 points including two three pointers and clutch free throws as the Arrows moved to an 88-84 victory.

Scott something of a silent assassin also had eight points in the quarter as the pair added 20 of the 22 Arrows points in that key quarter.

The Arrows had given it everything and briefly progressed to a 10-4 record and held third place in the division.
