The Spireites' new £13m 10,300 all-seater b2net stadium has been handed over to the club's ownership by the stadium builders GB Building Solutions.
There was a simple handing over of the keys of the stadium to CFC chief executive Carol Wilby by the builder's project manager John Currie.
This technical handover allows the football club to make final preparations for the final fit-out of the stadium, which includes computer systems, ticketing, and retail tills, furniture for the offices, conference and banqueting suites, completing the signage, stocking out the club shop, plus dealing with any final snagging work.
Access to the site will continue to be restricted until the club has officially moved its operations from Saltergate, which it hopes to do by the start of next week. In the meantime, supporters should continue to use the Recreation Ground until further notice.
There is no change to the club's telephone number of 01246 209765, which will be operational at both old and new grounds thanks to the work of the Spireites IT partner, Addooco IT Services.
Chesterfield FC's chief executive Carol Wilby said: "This is another key milestone for the club and one which means everyone's dream of moving into a new football stadium is about to be realised very soon."
The club's old ground at Saltergate will continue to be used for the foreseeable future by the Chesterfield FC Community Trust for its Saturday Morning Club and Summer Soccer Camp.
Meanwhile, admission details for forthcoming games will be announced once the club is operational at the b2net stadium.
Two special days have already been assigned for season ticket holders to go along to the b2net stadium to collect their new season tickets and try out their new seats. The dates are Wednesday July 14, noon to 7pm and Saturday, July 17, 10am to 2pm.
Those supporters who have still to purchase a season ticket can still do so at a discounted price if they visit the b2net stadium on Sunday July 18, 10am to 2pm.
Chesterfield players have also this week reported back for training.
The club's first pre-season friendly is away at Alfreton Town on Saturday, July 17, kick-off 3pm.
