All Inn set to defend title

All Inn remain on course to defend their Derbyshire Junior Cup North title as they beat off the challenge from Renishaw SC in a hard-fought and high-scoring affair that ended 7-4.

Stevie Adams and Craig Marples both bagged a brace with one apiece for Nico DeGirolamo, Ash Morton and Kasprzycki. Among the goals from Renishaw were Stuart Grainger, Wayne Dodworth, Plaweki and an own goal.

All Inn will now play Chapel Town in the final on Wednesday, April 6, at 7.30pm at Matlock Town FC.

In Byron Cup action Hopflower were too strong for Clowne Villa Reserves keeping a clean sheet and netting five times to secure their passage to the next round. Aidan Ordidge converted four times with Scott Taylor scoring the other.

Tibshelf progressed in a close affair with Holmewood & Heath as they edged the game 2-1. S Clements and S Webster were on target for Tibshelf with Jordan Hunter netting for Holmewood.

Two League games were also played and Chesterfield Town hosted Holmefield Arms at Highfields Park.

Town dominated the opening half an hour and courtesy of two well-taken Andy Woolven goals they went 2-0 up. Holmefield got a lifeline when Dave Hall scored from the spot to make it 2-1 at the interval.

Town then missed the chance to go 3-1 up when Spencer’s penalty was saved by Ricky Roe. Ward equalised for Holmefield as Town’s appeals for a foul on keeper Styring were turned down. Ward forced home a late winner for Holmefield although Town came close in the last minute when Slack’s shot was brilliantly saved by man of the match Roe.

Shirebrook Rangers hit six as they proved too strong for visitors Middle. Rangers were up for the game from the off and by the half time interval were three goals to the good.

Middle did not sit back and put up a fight and secured a consolation goal but it was never going to be enough as Rangers found the net a further three times.

Marksmen for Rangers were Liam Fear with four and one apiece for Lee Measures and Mark Slack. Middle’s scorer was Simon Furniss.

Our best wishes go to Jim Clarke from Shirebrook and wish him all the best as he recovers from his hospital visit.
