Liam Pitchford has been confirmed as England’s new senior No 1 table tennis player.
Liam, 18, from Brimington, has seen his table tennis career sky-rocket, since he finished his GCSEs to concentrate on the sport full time.
Liam was in excellent form at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi last year when he won a silver medal with the England team and a bronze in the doubles event with playing partner Paul Drinkhall.
And the north Derbyshire ace was in tremendous form at thye recent Austrian Open European Championship events.
Liam enjoyed a string if impressive victories, including one over Belarusian Vladmir Samsonov, who is ranhed number nine in the world.
Liam took over the No 1 spot from Drinkhall, who has been present at the top of the leader board since becoming the youngest ever number one aged 16 in 2006.
