Buxton swimmer Abbie Wood just missed out on winning a prestigous award at the European Olympic Committee (EOC) held in Rome earlier this month.
The 14-year-old was a nomination in the Piotr Nurowski Best Young European Athlete award, and was up against four other competitors from around Europe.
The eventual winner of the award was another swimmer, Ruta Meilutyte.
It is the second year in a row that the Lithuanian has won the award, which is named after the President of the Polish Olympic Committee who died in the Polish Air Force plane crash in Russia in 2010.
Whilst at the ceremony Abbie, a member of Buxton Swimming Club and Derventio Excel Swim Squad, got to meet Lord Sebastian Coe, who won a spot on the executive body of the EOC during the two-day assembly.
