YOUR VIEW: my heart goes out to genuine homeless - but not those who refuse help

It's sad in this day and age that anyone is on the streets and I'm sorry to those who are. But it's so hard to know who's genuine and who isn't.'¨Lots of the '˜homeless' in Chesterfield have properties already and aren't actually homeless. I'm not saying they are all alcoholics and drug users as they aren't, and my heart goes out to the ones who have ended up on the streets due to no fault of their own and have turned to drink, drugs, stealing as they may have no choice. But the thieving drug users I've grown up around and know of have ended up homeless and in bad health due to years of drug abuse and hanging round in rough gangs. Their families have had enough of the trouble, stealing and heartache bought to them.'¨Some don't help themselves at all. I had heroin addicts on my property/garden numerous times over Christmas and New Year sneaking around our sheds, greenhouse and garage for anything they can steal and it's these that I have no sympathy. For years they have stolen, taken drugs, never had a job and broken their parents' hearts as they have had a decent upbringing but for some reason drugs have become their life. As I said at the start, it's sad people are on the streets full stop, but some have in fact been given help and a place to live and in a matter of weeks these places have become a dirty scruffy drug den and the help thrown back in people's faces.'¨I agree some of these individuals need and deserve help, but they to have to WANT to change for the better, for a better life for themselves.'¨Sceptical'¨Facebook comment
