Who protects the public? Do you want to help us?

I am writing to ask what Derbyshire Highways committee are doing to protect the road users and pedestrians of North Derbyshire.

After the fiasco that is Hasland traffic light system yet another issue has many people questioning its power of resolution: the proposed planning applications by Tesco at The Somerset House, Calow has received no objections from the Highways committee, despite being sited on the brow of a hill, on a main ambulance route and on a carriageway only seven metres wide.

Large articulated lorries will be delivering five times daily into a very tight space.

The Tesco representative stated that the delivery drivers will call the site 30 minutes before arriving so staff onsite can cordon car parking spaces off to accept deliveries.

The lack of available spaces will only result in cars being parked on the main road and is another accident waiting to happen.
