Are your readers aware that East Midlands Trains have started charging 50p for their 20 minute short stay car park at Chesterfield Station.
In my opinion this is outragous exploitation. Most people park for only a few minutes either to drop people off, meet people, or buy tickets in advance. They stay for 20 minutes only when the trains are late.
I wrote to EM Trains. Their reply was that it was to help pay for the long stay car park and CCTV, and brought Chesterfield into line with other stations.
If the charge stays, how long will it be before it creeps up to 75p or £1?
I think, through the DT, pressure should be put on EM Trains to remove the charge.
