No ping pong gong - but a fantastic event

A BIG thank you to all the people who supported my son Steven Randell and his friend Chris Daffin, during their recent world record attempt to break the table tennis ball and bat control duration of 4 hours 39 minute and 52 seconds.

Although the lads didn’t manage to break this very difficult record they did manage to raise several hundred pounds for their chosen charities. Steven’s being Cancer Research and Chris’s Kidney Research – both charities being close to their hearts for family reasons.

Special thanks go to The Queen’s Park Sports Centre, for hosting the event, witnesses Toby Perkins, Michelle Brunt, Amanda O’Brien, Julie Lowe, Caroline Aird, Claire Bass, Gemma Booth and Terry Gilby, the timekeepers Mick Crossley and Derek Marples, the Mayor and Mayoress and all family, friends and colleagues who donated money. Finally, I’d like to add thanks to the lads themselves for making the attempt.

Although defeated they are determined to get their names in records books and I’m sure they will achieve this as some point.

In my eyes, lads, you are both world class. Well done.
