I see that you occasionally allow space on your letters’ page for letters of a highly polemic and political nature. An example is the recently published letter from Mr Knight about Jeremy Corbyn. I recall that Margaret Thatcher’s death also provoked a similar outpouring. Whilst such letters may have a cathartic effect for the writer, shedding more heat than light, I question their place in the pages of a local newspaper.
Surely your readers wish to be informed and entertained by sensible comment on local issues. So please will you exercise some editorial rigour and put the diatribes where they belong, on the spike.
